Italy – 12 January 2017
The UTMB® 2017 race entry list was announced today, as the results of the registration ballot were published online at 10.00am (GMT+1). With only 2300 places available means it’s a tough race to get into.
Considered to be The Mecca of Trail Races – The UTMB® has grown substantially from the 700 runners that took part in the first edition in 2003. It became so popular that in 2007 the points system was introduced – allocating points to finishers of qualifying races across the world.
The 2017 registrations closed on 05/01/2017 with the number of athletes competing for one of the 2300 bib’s nearly double that amount.
UTMB®? Perhaps in a few years…!?
The King of Trail races – UTMB® Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc stands at 170km, 10 000m+. If you’re more in line for something shorter you can start with one of the other races held over the week long Trail-Fest:
OCC Orsiere Champex Chamonix: 55km, 3500m+ Orsiere, Switzerland
